Terrapin Aquatics Management“With over 10 years of work in the aquatic industry maintaining everything from small private ponds to large recreational lakes, Whitney is an invaluable addition to the Terrapin Aquatics team.”
Whitney’s lake management career started back in 2007, at which time she worked seasonally for a company based in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. She spent a total of four seasons there treating bodies of water all over the Chicago area, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. She also served as Assistant Crew Supervisor, training new employees and managing the fleet of vehicles and supplies. She then continued working in the field full-time for a couple of years for another aquatics company, where she met and worked with future Terrapin Aquatics owner Tara Evans.
After moving to Chicago with her dog Jetter and cat Liz, Whitney worked for four years managing a greenhouse and providing interior landscape services to Chicago businesses and residents. Despite her love of plants, Whitney just couldn’t stay away from the water. She found herself working again in the field of lake management in and around Chicago. During this time she participated in multiple forest clear-outs and received her Controlled Burn Certificate.
Luckily for all involved, it was at this point that Whitney and Tara reunited over their passion for ensuring the health of water-based ecosystems all over the region. With over 10 years of work in the aquatic industry maintaining everything from small private ponds to large recreational lakes, Whitney is an invaluable addition to the Terrapin Aquatics team.
Since starting at Terrapin, Whitney has attended multiple conferences in the region and received certifications as a ProcellaCOR Applicator and a SePro Steward of Water. She composed a case study on Muck Reduction which was awarded third place in the 2019 NaturaLakes Biologic Research Contest, and is also now a NaturaLakes Certified Professional.
Needless to say, your bodies of water are in good hands!
