Terrapin Aquatics Management“To me, the profession of Lake and Pond Management is not a job, but a passion that I love and intend to do with my new company Terrapin Aquatics Management for many years to come.”
I was born and raised in West Aurora. I now make my home in Yorkville IL where I have lived for the last 15 + years with my husband Jim and, my two sons, River, and Easton, along with two dogs, a kitty and 12 chickens.
I got my Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Illinois University where I majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry. I have always had a love for the outdoors. In my free time I enjoy hiking, camping, gardening and hanging with family and friends. I also have a passion for live music.
For 13 years, I had been employed as a Lake and Pond Management Specialist, for another area company. During this time I have managed and monitored as many as 200 ponds and other bodies of water, public and private, throughout the area. My main goal is to keep algae and weeds from infesting and ruining these precious bodies of water. Keeping the undesirable or non-native/invasive growth under control allows the waterways to flourish in native natural ways. These better balanced ponds become a healthy ecosystem for all wildlife to flourish in and around. Keeping these environments clean assures us that there will be food and protection for all wildlife including fish, turtles, frogs and water birds, such as ducks, Blue Heron, White Egrets, King Fishers, etc..
We are very proud of the acknowledgments and certifications that Terrapin Aquatics Management has received over these first 4 years of business. First and foremost, TAM recently received the WBENC, Certified Women’s Business Enterprise. We are also SePRO Certified and Naturalake Biosciences Certified.
Now as I move into my 19th year in this industry..to me, the profession of Lake and Pond Management/Aquatic Specialist is not a job, but a passion that I love and intend to do with my company Terrapin Aquatics Management for many years to come.
